Julie Eileen Berger
Love these photos that were taken from a campaign for the Nokia C7. The clothes are by Julie Eileen Berger, from the Marry Me Nature collection. The photographer is Yves Borgwardt.

Frieda & Nellie make glamorous mash-up jewelry with friendship bracelets and vintage costume jewelry. Best friends Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid came up with the line after they were inspired by colorful bracelets they saw while on vacation in Ecuador. All of the pieces shown here are available online at Charm & Chain.
Color + sparkly gems + mixed styles = what I like.

Rennie Ellis
Rennie Ellis (1940-2003) was a documentary photographer from Australia, who shot varied subject matter from smutty to serious. I enjoy some of these smutty ones from Australian nightclubs in the age of decadence.

Vintage Sunglasses
Left to right, top to bottom:
Michele Lamy, 1970's. Available at Eyewear Mebius
Michelle Lamy is a super cool individual. It's hard to find much history about her, especially related to the sunglasses. What's easy to discover is that she's Rick Owens' wife, that she used to own Les Deux Cafes in Los Angeles, and that she has dyed black fingertips and gold plated teeth.
“TAXI” by Casanova Venezia, 1990's. Available at Solakzade
Unknown brand, 1990's. Available at Eyewear Mebius

Graffitis, 1960's. Available at Eyewear Mebius
Michele Lamy, 1980's. Available through 1st Dibs
These are off the hook. They remind me of a 1930's bakelite radio, reinterpreted by the animators of Beverly Hills Teens.

New York Rocker
The New York Rocker was a monthly paper dedicated to underground music, published from 1976 to 1982. It covered all my favorites, as well as employed awesome music photographers, Laura Levine and Ebet Roberts.
![]() The Clash, 1979 Devo, December 1979 ---- I (of course) favor the style used from 1980-1981. Elizabeth van Itallie was the art director. Lydia Lunch and Lene Lovich, May 1980 Pretenders, June 1980 X, September 1980 Pylon, March 1981 Prince, June 1981 |
Gianni Versace, Spring/Summer 1988
The Gianni Versace spring 1988 campaign was shot by Richard Avedon. The models are
Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Paulina Porizkova, John Enos, Scott Benoit, and Curt Butrum.
I'm especially enjoying the diagonal grid, all of the shoes, Linda's Jacket, and Paulina's gloves.

Wet Magazine, July/August 1981
Wet was an "artsy" LA-based magazine that published 34 issues between 1976 and 1981, with diverse subject matter relating to culture, politics, fashion, entertainment, decorating, food. They have a new-wave design aesthetic, and of course, it makes me go crazy! Loving the random diagonal grids.
I found an issue online, and I saved some of the pages that I liked best.
The epitome of early 80's Modern/Cool design. So funny.

Walter Burger
Walter Burger is a Swiss painter, born in 1923. I haven't been able to find much info about him, so if you know anything, please inform me!
Walter Burger, Begegnung, 1968. Definitely the piece he is known for.
I don't have information on the title for this.
Morgen, 1994
In 1993, a Swiss Aids awareness organization (AHSGA) started collaborating with artists for a series of lithographs. Above is Burger's contribution.
"Gerade Menschen, die mit dem HI-Virus leben müssen, empfinden das Leben oft als deutlicher, bewusster, mit geschärftem Blick." - Walter Burger
My translation is this: People who live with the HIV virus often have an especially clear consciousness and keen eye.

Shae Acopian Detar
Gorgeous mixed media work from Shae Acopian Detar. She does quite a bit of fashion editorial work, both photography-only and also enhanced with paint. The painted work is my favorite.
Gia for Dior
Gia Carangi shot by Denis Piel for Dior, probably about 1980.
Love the photos, but really love those dresses. Especially the one at the top!
