Anna Taratiel

I love work of Barcelona-based artist Anna Taratiel (a.k.a. Ovni). Stemming from her background as both a graphic designer and a graffiti artist, her op-art style of work carries a lot of juxtapositions: dimensional/flat, primitive/mod, geometric/organic, sharp/sweet.

Below are a few of her installations.

Orbitas, 2008, at Rojo Artspace, Barcelona, Spain

In Between, 2008, in Lisbon, Portugal

Out of Order, 2008, at Kalpany Gallery, Milan, Italy

Miscellaneous

Fortune cookie change purses by fashion designer/artist Diana Eng. You may recognize her name, because she was on season 2 of Project Runway.

Aschen and Voss cosmetic line, packaging designed by Established.

Cute rainbow pasta bow ties!

This bit of type was the title of a 70's sporting goods catalogue. Totally groovy.

A piece by Sui Jianguo. It's hard to tell if this is a photo or a drawing. Jianguo is one of China's most important sculptors. His best-known works are his huge bronze Mao suits sculptures, giant toy dinosaurs and his 'Made in China' banners or signs.

Angela Lindvall in Prada, Fall 1999.

You see those boots she is wearing? I have those. I wish you could see the details, because they're kind of crazy: they are forest green with brown and aqua patent leather leaves and acorns all over them. They were my pride and joy for some time.

I haven't worn them in years because the heel has an early 2000's geometric shape to it, and I'm not feeling that style quite yet.
