Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in Alien Resurrection

Madonna

Iman for YSL, Spring 1980, shot by Claus Ohm

Linda Rondstadt, with a cute smile!

Miscellaneous Babes

A model from the Fall 2010 Katie Gallagher show. I'm digging the make-up of course.

Madonna. The lipstick is the best.
I thought that this would be a Maripol shot, but I can't find any evidence that it actually is.

Paulina Porizkova by Arthur Elgort

I know it looks like she is wearing flip-flops, but I am going to imagine that they are not. They in fact look something like these funky shoes I used to have that crisscrossed over the big toe. Let's just pretend they are the same ones.

Magazine ad for French men's brand, Renoma. Probably from 1986 or 87.

Madonna, shot by Steven Meisel, 1983

Richard Amsel, Formerly the Harlettes poster, 1977.
What are Harlettes? They were Bette Midler's backup singers in the 70's. There were quite a few during the 70's and 80's, but Melissa Manchester, Katey Segal, and Sharon Redd were the girls who became the most famous!

Bruce Springsteen shot by Lily Hou at Max's Kansas City, New York 1978 1973.

First edition cover for a fictionalized memoir of a fashion editor, In the Mink, by Anne Scott-James. E. P. Dutton & Co, Inc, New York, 1952.

Iman, shot by Roxanne Lowit in Paris. Looks to be around the early 90's.

Madonna, from the "Like a Virgin" video shoot in Venice.

Schiaparelli glasses, above and below. So cool!

My buddies, the Slits. Of course, they are friends mine only in my fantasy world.

Twiggy. I am loving those shoes.

Poster for Madonna, live at the Red Parrot, probably in 1984.

Tim Walker, Lily and Spiral Staircase, shot in Wadhwan in Gujarat, India. From UK Vogue, July 2005

Toyen, Schlafende, 1937.

Toyen was a Czech avant garde surrealist artist who worked mainly with erotic subject matter. Her style (of photo collages) seems to have been an influence on Linder Sterling.

Photo by Richard Burbridge. He has a really graphic high-contrast style that I like. He also seems to favor neon colors, as do I!

Miscellaneous

Colorful Bodum grills.

Steve Strange from Visage. He was involved in many of the subculture scenes of the UK during the 70's and 80's, including punk and New Romantics, but he's mostly known for being a Blitz Kid (the most famous Blitz Kid is Boy George).

He was also in David Bowie's video, Ashes to Ashes.

Poster for the Niki De Saint Phalle exhibition at the Kunstverein, Dusseldorf, 1968

Madonna back when she was possibly a little bit more respectable; definitely more cute. Photographed (and possibly styled) by Maripol.

Julie Christie photographed by Irving Penn for US Vogue, February 15, 1966.

Japanese poster for Modesty Blaise, 1966.

So this is Madonna (duh) on her first tour for Like a Virgin (which looking back on reviews, I understand that she really kind of sucked most of the time). The reason why this image is here is because of the jacket, which is super cool. I wish I could see it in person.

Diane Lane. Somebody recently said my mom looks like her. What a compliment!

Miscellaneous

Andy Warhol for Halston. From US Vogue, September 1982

Beautiful shoes!

Poster for David Bowie's Station to Station tour. I like his look here.

Madonna in Venice from the "Like a Virgin" video. I like the overall look, but that dress alone is pretty disgusting. I remember being really attracted to those blue spandex leggings when I was a child.

Girls and Sailors. New York, 1970

An old ad for VanHeusen shirts. Sexy!

Joe Strummer

Tom Binns' jewelry is my favorite! I get all worked up when I see it. This is from the Disney Couture collection.

Madonna's hot jacket from "Desperately Seeking Susan"
I like her earrings quite a bit too.

I am super into the look of the YSL Fall 2008 collection. The black lipgloss was limited edition and it's not available anymore.

I bet Frank has this video. The guy in the top right corner is wearing a Delicious Vinyl t-shirt.

Ruth St. Denis was an early modern dance pioneer. She established the one of the first university dance programs in the US at Adelphi University and taught Martha Graham.

This photo was taken for "The Legend of the Peacock" which is one of her early solos.

Read more about her here.

So, I am not terribly into Madonna during this phase (you know I favor the early days...) – so let's just forget this is her and just marvel at this beautiful dress. It's Olivier Theyskens, and worn to the 1998 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards.

He was the artistic director at Nina Ricci when they showed those unbelievable shoes for Fall 2009.

Madonna, looking cute back in the day!

Cute shoes! They kind of look like Barbie shoes here. By United Nude.

Madonna looked so good in Desperately Seeking Susan (above and below.) When I saw this movie as a child, I thought the plot was barely existent. I had always just figured I just didn't understand it. Upon seeing the movie more recently, I think I was right all along. The plot is pretty weak.
