Miscellaneous Babes

80's Geometry

I actually got a pretty poor grade in Geometry, which is strange since I use it quite a bit in my job.

What a practical bag (on the left)! Sadly, I have no info on the photo, where it came from, who the models are, the photographer, the date, or who makes the clothes in it. I'm always into a Memphis influence.

The shot is cool - the colors and everything, but most of the accessories I will admit are kind of weird. The blue glove on the top right is cool, and I would be happy to wear it (if I had two)

Ad for Susan Bennis Warren Edwards, who were the ultimate in fancy shoe design in 80's NYC. Their flagship store was on Park Ave, and it's now a construction site. They stopped designing shoes together in the 90's, when Susan Bennis decided to retire upstate. Warren Edwards still has a store.

80's Ads

Linda Spierings for Claude Montana, Spring/Summer 1985
She was the face of the first ever Comme des Garçons campaign in 1982.

Cindy Crawford, Dayle Haddon & Unknown Model for North Beach Leather. Shot by Victor Skrebneski.

North Beach Leather is the best! You can always trust the quality if you order vintage online (which I tend to have made a habit of doing; the skirt on the left is in fact something I own).

I only wish that these Jem-looking girls were not wearing those tights

Kenar, Spring 1981

Iman for Gianni Versace shot by Richard Avedon, Spring 1983

Models in B&W

Gisele Zelauy in the Spring 1997 Moschino campaign

Editha Dussler shot by director Just Jaeckin in 1970

Anjelica Huston by hair stylist/photographer Ara Gallant, 1970's

Unknown model wearing Jin Abe. Shot by Carlo Dalla Chiesa in LOfficiel #767, 1991.

Miscellaneous: How Random Can I Get?

Helloooo!!! This art-direction is off the hook! Too bad it's probably not quite on-brand. Vogue, December 1940

What a fun poster!  Brooke Shields by Richard Avedon and Keith Haring, 1985

I am into this look that Goldie Hawn sported in "Overboard"

A collection of David Bowie tickets

Chanel ensembles shot by Helmut Newton, 1983. I would absolutely, most definitely wear those dresses.

Debbie Harry looking cute. Shot in Toronto by Bob Gruen in 1977

Jacques Tati by Robert Doisneau, 1949

Raphael Young, Spring 2010 Campaign

Love the art direction in the Spring/Summer '10 campaign for Raphael Young's collection. A primary color palette is retro and modern at the same time, always bold and perfect.

See them all big after the jump.

Vlisco

I love the colors and patterns of West and Central African wax-block textiles, and Vlisco is the gold standard. Vlisco is a Dutch textile house that has been designing and producing them since 1846. In Africa, their fabrics are considered to be the highest of luxury, akin to driving a Rolls Royce while wearing a Rolex (...and I know that possibly means different things for different people, but I think you get the gist.)

Gorgeous!

Jenny Howarth for Claude Montana

This is a 1988 campaign for Claude Montana starring one of my favorite models, the beautiful Jenny Howarth. It was shot by Paolo Roversi. I would be perfectly happy to be the wearer of any of those outfits.

Miscellaneous

Designers and Models, Bez Ocko and Claudia McNulty, wearing their line Bias/Buy Us, 1979.

Chloe, Spring 1997

Naomi Campbell for Kenzo, Spring 1992

Chantal Thomass ad, 1982

Jitrois, Spring 1985

Oh man, these people are seriously smoldering. Am I right? The woman on the left has got this. I'm really into her hair, and she has the best face.

This is a campaign for the Jitrois spring 1985 collection. Jean-Claude Jitrois is a designer that specializes in sexy, architectural but form-fitting, expensive leather. In NYC, his collection is sold at Realm, where he will make appearances November 2nd and 3rd to present the Spring 2012 collection.

Miscellany

Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenburg, and Jane Wenner

Vogue Italy, October 1991

Angela Lindvall in Prada, Fall 1999.

You see those boots she is wearing? I have those. I wish you could see the details, because they're kind of crazy: they are forest green with brown and aqua patent leather leaves and acorns all over them. They were my pride and joy for some time.

I haven't worn them in years because the heel has an early 2000's geometric shape to it, and I'm not feeling that style quite yet.

Liberty Ross in Etro, Spring 2002
