Hans Belmer

Hans Bellmer (1902-1975) was a surrealist sculptor/photographer. He's known for his dolls, which he started constructing in 1932.

I think we can all tell who was seriously inspired by Hans Belmer – Devo!!

New York Rocker

The New York Rocker was a monthly paper dedicated to underground music, published from 1976 to 1982. It covered all my favorites, as well as employed awesome music photographers, Laura Levine and Ebet Roberts.

Devo, December 1979

I (of course) favor the style used from 1980-1981. Elizabeth van Itallie was the art director.

This is actually a collage. It's stock.

Y Pants is an early 80's NY noise sort of band. I am not totally in love with their songs. They're not bad, they're just not my fave. I really like this cover and it's ketchup and mustard palette though.

More Barney Bubbles. This is the Ian Dury Songbook.

Looks like Devo is on a panel. I wonder what they're talking about.

This is also stock. It's part of the CSA collection, which always has weirdo stuff that makes me laugh.
