Around Town: Giorgio Armani

Necklace, Giorgio Armani; NYC, January 2014

From windows at the New York flagship. It's not clear whether the necklace is askew on the mannequin, or designed to be asymmetrical. I hope it's the latter.

Chairman Mao Pins and Badges

This is a collection of Chairman Mao Pins and Badges from the Cultural Revolution, including a pin to remember Chairman Mao's Quotations and one to inspire loyality.

I like that they were shot with the yellow background.

MCL by Matthew Campbell Laurenza

Matthew Campbell Laurenza's jewelry collection, inspired by his world travels, was launched at Bergdorf Goodman in 2007. His signature style of intricately detailed rings and bracelets pair multi-colored gemstone pavé with bold, bright, high-contrast enamel set in dark metals.

Celine, Spring 2014

Extra-cool looks at the Celine Spring 2014 presentation. I love the bold patterns and primary palette, and the jewelry is outstanding. It's a perfect juxtaposition of crafty-tribal and geometric & architectural.

Cocktail Rings

I don't tend to wear cocktail rings much, but I have been seeing a few lately that are really special.

Miscellaneous

Everything in this post, I think I would like to wear together....but I guess maybe the dress needs a different fabric.

Clutches from Shangai Tang

Miu Miu shoes that I wish I had, spring 2011. They're still in stores, but not remotely close to my size. Maybe in a few months I will see them at some kind of outlet store. They photos were taken from the blog, Sea of Shoes.

I've lost the info on who made this necklace.

Paula Yates and Jools Holland when they were hosts of the English music program The Tube.

Paula Yates was Bob Geldof's wife (and Pixie and Peaches Geldof's mom) and she also had a baby with Michael Hutchence. She died in 2000. Jools Holland is still on TV in the UK, and he was also the piano player in Squeeze.

Amanda DeCadenet is a fashion photographer who became famous for hosting a British TV show as a teenager.

I can't tell if this is a photo that she took or if it's a photo of her. She looks generally like this and she was approximately this age in the 80's, but it also looks close to her photo style.

Whatever it is, I like the shot a quite a bit; it's kind of posh and bratty at the same time. It might be a visualization of my childhood aspirations!
