Liquid Sky

Liquid Sky debuted at the Montreal Film festival in August 1982, and went on to be he most successful independent film of 1983 grossing $1.7 million in the first several months of release.

It's not perfect in every way, but definitely worth a viewing; the costumes and make-up are unbelievably fantastic, the music is weird, and the story line is pretty funky. There's so much to see; I wish I could have been there!

Additional fun fact: Anne Carlisle (who played the male/female leads) did a Playboy shoot in conjunction with the film (Hot stuff NSFW obv.)

Watch the entire movie after the jump:

Here's another set of stills from Liquid Sky. It has the most fantastic sets and costumes.

Mars. This 7-inch was part of the recent New York post-punk exhibit at the MoMA.

I don't have any info about this photo. Isadora and Uni have told me that the man laughing in the center is Karl Lagerfeld. He and his friends look so glamorous. I wish I were there. They are also inspiring me to think about wearing hats out socially.

Whenever I run across a Liquid Sky still, I can't resist putting it up. The costumes in that film are the best.

Nico with Mirror, 1960. This photo is originally in color, but I think black and white might look a little more elegant. She's got tons of bright blue eyeshadow on.

This is an image that I've had in my collection a long time. I have lost track of who made it.

Lauren Hutton by Richard Avedon for US Vogue, June 1968. Super cute swimsuit. I especially like the bra top. Also, that seems like an excessive amount of hair.

A still from 1976's "Alice Sweet Alice"

See more at the awesome movie-stills site, I Love Hot Dogs.

One funny thing about this movie, is that the little girl, played by Paula E. Sheppard ended up playing Adrian in "Liquid Sky." They were her only 2 movies!
Chrissy recognized her (even though she was a kid) since we had seen Liquid Sky only a couple of days before.

A bathroom in Polly Mellen's Connecticut home, by Eric Boman for US Vogue, April 2009. I "LOVE" those YSL posters!

Photo by Jenny Murray. More here.

Bryan Ferry. Smooth.

Found some more Liquid Sky stills. Above and below.

This illustration came from the cover of a book called (something like) "Teaching Music to Retarded Children." I picked up the cover from Awful Library Books and retouched it a bit. The bird is cute and I like the colors, but I was not so into the title.

I really don't have any info of substance to share about this photo.

Lydia Lunch, Queen of Siam
This is her first solo album, from 1980. The whole thing is hotness.
